Wannabe//Spice Girls
For our preliminary task, we had originally planned to do a lip sync to ‘Born This Way’ by Lady GaGa. Unfortunately, we struggled to have a consistent shooting schedule with people who had planned to help us out in the music video. We also found it quite boring to shoot due to the fact that we had created a concept that needed a lot more time than we had.
We found that we wanted to go for something that was old school and upbeat so we chose ‘Wannabe’ by the Spice Girl. We didn’t want to make a parody of the original music video so we put our own individual spins on the different members.
Naomi and I starred in the video as Scary Spice and Ginger Spice, Lorna filmed the video and also help with creative direction throughout filming. We got help from Phoebe and Rosie who played Sporty Spice and Posh Spice, also Olivia helped with filming too.
We wanted the music video to be energetic and youthful, so we made a lot of quick cuts and also fastened up shots which I feel made our video successful. Another thing that I found successful was that we left the cameras rolling whilst we were playing tennis and running around, we used this in the video because it tied in to the friendship concept of the song.
For future reference, I would make sure that when we render our videos that we double check the audio to see if it is still in sync with the video. We found that after rendering and uploading our music video that some of the audio had moved, causing areas to be out of sync.
