For our final group project before Christmas, we had to curate a photoshoot based on the item we got whilst reflecting back to the magazine shoot we had been given. My group got Larger than Life which was a shoot featured in vogue and our item was Jewellery.

At first we found it really hard to think of ideas that we could do based around the item, we took a step back from the item and began brainstorming what all the connotations of jewellery could be, we came up with things such as religion, marriage and many more!

We started looking at doing a shoot based around blood diamonds and how brands such as Tiffany and Rolex and still using blood diamonds in some of their items, we later strayed away from this idea as we felt like it was too big to condense down into one specific concept in order to create the images.

We hired a studio in bonningiton and did a couple of test shoots with pieces of jewellery and without, after a while we realised that we prefer the images without the jewellery as we felt that they looked more contemporary and left the viewer of the image wondering why we hadn’t used any.

After being inspired by a set of images found on Pinterest we decided to use string to mimic the concept of jewellery, we felt that it was perfect as it could be draped and the movement of the string was similar to the movement of jewellery too.

We hired out a studio again and took loads more pictures, changing the background from white and black to make sure we experimented enough with the items that we’ve available to us in Bonnington.

Overall as a group we were so happy with how the images came out and we received some really good feedback on them!
