One of the many tasks for fashion communication and promotion (fcp for short) is to create a blog, I thought long and hard as to what I wanted my first post to be and I thought why not tell you all why I decided to study Fashion Communication at Nottingham Trent University.

Before coming to Nottingham, I was already at another university, I was doing BA joint honours in Fine Art, Film Studies and Theatre Studies at the University of Reading. Whilst I was there, I learnt a lot about myself, but it wasn’t until my second year there that I realised I wasn’t happy, I spent months deliberating if I should just switch course and stay within the university or to just have a fresh start all together. After a while, I decided to make the decision to drop out Reading all together and take a year out to figure out if university was really for me.

I’d been to Nottingham only a handful of times, but I had never really taken my time to look around the city and it wasn’t until a good friend showed me around the city back in January was when I fell in love with Nottingham, and the year out that I had planned to have only ended up being 7 months as I had completely fallen in love with Nottingham Trent and was desperate to go back to uni.

Fashion was something I thought about when I was first deciding what I wanted to do at university back in 2017, but for some reason the thought slipped to back of my mind, but the second time around it was the only thing I looked at, I spent months reading about different types of fashion courses across the UK and visiting universities and each time Nottingham Trent fell at the top of my list! I ended up apply to three courses within that included fashion at Nottingham Trent as I was just so desperate to get in!

Fashion communication and promotion was my favourite out of all of the courses, I fell in love with the fact that the course is so broad and takes you from one end of the industries spectrum to another! It enables me to experiment and experience a range of things like photography, styling and even trend forecasting! Crazily enough I was offered an unconditional place at NTU for FCP!

Over the next couple of months, I am so excited to explore all of the things that this course has to offer, making new friends and also exploring more of Nottingham itself!
